About the campaign

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip, also referred to as osteonecrosis or aseptic necrosis, is a condition where the blood supply to the ball of the hip joint (femoral head) is lost, causing the bone to die. Without a blood supply, the bone cells die, and the surrounding bone loses its normal living environment. The condition is characterized by pain and loss of limp movement.

AVN is a common condition found in sickle cell patients and requires proper treatment and surgery. Unfortunately it is a very expensive procedure that is requires advanced care and treatment facilities outside Nigeria and most sickle cell sufferers cannot afford it.

MAISCEF is seeking for donations to support two persons currently suffering from this complication to enable them receive this treatment abroad. The total cost of treatment for one person (including travel costs) is about N5,000,000.

No amount is too small.
